We try to do 1-2 family outings or community events per week as a whole family. It depends on the weather too of course but we atttend some kind of school or church function weekly. Other community functions creep up here and there too like pot-lucks, peace rallies- oh and don’t forget garage sales now that it is spring…I am a home body though and much rather be busy at home or relaxing at home. My wife and I have to tell ourselves and the kids -it’s okay not to go to everything
I am very dedicated to making memories with my kids and love it when we run into other families around the neighborhood –that attend the same school..it helps us feel like a community. Even though we don’t even know everyone’s name—the kids do!
We are pretty involved at our church, so our community events usually go along with that. We also do some city wide things with the kids, but since our oldest is still under 5, I suppose we’ll do more as they get older.
We really enjoy traveling with our daughters and our travels are definitely family events. We also like to go to the mini concerts at one of the local coffee shops. We enjoy hanging out with others who show up for coffee/concert nights.
