Very interesting and beneficial information. I have a great-niece starting kindergarten in September, 2008, and will forward this website to both her grandparents (my sister) and her parents as there are many suggestions and facts presented. We all need to be reminded of what can make a difference at this crucial young age and potentially translate into lifetime improvements. If every child in America were the beneficiary of even several of these suggestions, what a difference it could make!

thanks for the ideas cynthia!

very solid points,

I didn't want to elaborate on my own bio and be the only one to do so, but it is entirely ours, and we are no agency, just your students :). not sure if our group wanted a contact us section yet, and i was a little tired to throw up a contact form right away.

cheers-

Identify yourselves or your agency a bit better in your online presentation. Great work here and you don't want others wondering if it is yours! Instead of the about tab perhaps a contact us tab or something similar?

Wow, lots of information. Good and helpful information but probably would want to slow down if presenting this for people who English is not their first language.

We really enjoy traveling with our daughters and our travels are definitely family events. We also like to go to the mini concerts at one of the local coffee shops. We enjoy hanging out with others who show up for coffee/concert nights.

This is such a good question. My youngest daughter went from a regular pre-school into French Immersion. My hope was that the language learning aspect would not distract from the happy kindergarten atmosphere that my eldest daughter enjoyed. I shouldn't have worried. My youngest ended up a happy friendly singing gal much like I remember from my eldest gal's kindergarten days. This time though the songs were in French. ;)

When I hear "school readiness" I think the child should be......ready to learn new things, able to get along with other students, able to handle a more structured environment, knowledgeable of the basic fundamentals of education like alphabets, colors, numbers, more developed social skills etc.

This information is very important and I agree that at a young age kids are fit and active and they need to maintain this somehow. They need to be able to get along socially and connect with the teacher too...As a parent I need to remember to let my children do more on their own and assist them rather then dong it for them. I also have to engage with my kids daily even with the little things---just to check in with them not just go do all the fun activities. I know a lot of young parents who would learn from this module.
